Next year it will be exactly 45 years since the racing Skoda 110 L Rallye appeared on winding mountain roads. And so, in the minds of people from the Czechs4monte project, they decided to commemorate this anniversary at the upcoming Rallye Monte Carlo Historique , which will be held from January 27 to February 3. This competition for veterans has been held a few days after the classic competition since 1998. It also starts with the classic star ride , which has already disappeared from the World Championship.
Only cars that took part in the legendary event with its center in the Principality of Monaco between 1950 and 1980, which has been running since 1911, are allowed to take part in this competition. For Skoda cars, there is thus a restriction for types 440 Spartak , Octavia , 1000 MB , 110 L Rally and 130 RS . The factory crews were only with Octavia, 1000 MB and 130 RS types, otherwise it was private participation. The 110 L type was started by the private Norwegian crew Juvberget – Slaererud in 1971 and Johansson – Johansen a year later. Unfortunately, this car never once saw the goal and the Czech team will now try to change that.
That's why their 110 L Rallye is carefully prepared. The organizers also care about period originality , so additional parts and equipment undergo a thorough selection. There aren't many contemporary photos of the original cars, so the original green version with black hoods and a tricolor on the roof was chosen, as the car appeared at the Barum rally in 1974 with the crew of Ing. A. Barčák and L. Mařík.
The hundred is already ready to be properly tested and presented before the start itself. The Czech team chose Barcelona as the starting point for the star race. The racing car and the second supporting car will be brought here on a flatbed. The cars will be on display at a local dealer before the start. The competition special will then travel 1,100 kilometers to Monaco , and then a similar portion of competition kilometers on special stages await it. If everything goes well, the competition ends with the famous " night of long knives " and a ceremonial announcement with obligatory tuxedos. After the return, a publication and a film should be made about this event.
Ivan Pistulka , a long-time rally driver and a regular participant in the vintage car rally since 1993, will take the wheel of the racing car. In the years 2004 to 2007, he also tried his hand at the Czech Sprint Rally Championship with a Skoda Fabia RS . With her in 2005, he became the Champion of the Republic in class D9. His love for rallying came from his childhood, when he drove around the competitions with his camera as an avid spectator. Then he decided that he would drive a rally and threw himself into the construction of the Octavia TS , which is now in the museum in Lány. František Vahala , a motoring journalist and petrolhead, who also has experience as a driver of a Mini racing car with the Monte Carlo Historique, will sit in the hot passenger seat.
We hope you too will cheer for this laudable act. And not only that, you can also help the team and participate in their dream. The team will be happy for possible partners who will participate in the preparation of such an event. You can find out more on Facebook Czechs4monte.
