Volvo will present a study of a large coupe in Frankfurt

Large coupe and Swedish car manufacturer Volvo . This connection has been inherent since the days of the legendary P1800 model . However, the last proper coupé was the C70, whose production ended in 2002. However, with the Concept Coupé , the tradition will (hopefully) return.

The design of the new coupe mixes the elegance of the P1800 with new elements that we will see on future Volvo models. T-shaped LED daytime running lights are to become the distinguishing mark. The legendary P1800 is referred to by the long front hood and the elegant rendering of the rear. Even here, however, a place was found for LEDs, which form the rear lights in the shape of the letter C. Other modern elements include a panoramic roof and large wheels measuring 21 inches .

The interior, with a 2+2 arrangement , is made of the best materials, but at the same time it is also very futuristic. Practically only the large touchscreen on the center console is used to control the car's functions. A pair of alarm clocks in separate tubes and a modern head-up display sit in front of the driver. Gray leather was used for the upholstery, and there are also elements made of wood and metal.

The new coupe is powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a new 2.0 Drive-E petrol unit that drives the front axle and an electric motor that drives the rear axle. The combined maximum power is 405 hp , the torque reaches a value of up to 600 Nm.

As stated by Volvo itself, this is the first of three concepts that stands on the new Scalable Product Architecture platform. Thanks to it, it will be possible to share technology and design elements between individual models. Many of the elements used on the Concept Coupé will be seen, for example, on the upcoming second-generation XC90 SUV, which will arrive next year.
