Audi also introduced the S4

The main star of the Frankfurt Audi exhibition is the new generation sedan and station wagon A4 . Along with it, the sporty variant S4 was also presented in Hesse, tempting with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine and a more aggressive design.

We will start our tour of the new sports couple under the hood, where the turbocharged three-liter TFSI six-cylinder engine with an output of 354 hp and a torque of 500 Nm in the range of 1300 – 4500 rpm resides. The driving force of the engine is transmitted to the road via the eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission via permanent quattro all-wheel drive. The self-locking inter-axle differential distributes 60 percent of the driving force to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front axle during normal driving. Depending on the operating situation, however, it can transfer up to 70 percent of the torque to the front axle, or up to 85 percent to the rear axle. The four-wheeler is equipped with the function of distributing the torque between the individual wheels. For an additional fee, Audi will supply a sports differential that actively distributes power between the rear wheels. Acceleration of the 1,630-kilogram heavy model (Avant is 45 kilograms heavier) takes place in 4.7 seconds , while the speedometer needle stops at up to 250 km/h. The stated consumption is 7.4 l/100 km.

The chassis has five-link suspension at the front and at the back, and is 23 mm closer to the road compared to the series. Additional options include dynamic steering or adaptive dampers , which can be adjusted along with the engine, steering, Tiptronic transmission and sports differential via the Audi drive select selector.

From the outside, you can tell the S4 from the regular A4 by the newly shaped bumpers , aluminum mirror covers, sill extensions, a discreet spoiler on the trunk lid and a diffuser with four exhaust tips. Front and rear lights are completely diode, Euros will also pull out Matrix LED front reflectors. The wheels are 18 inches as standard, and one-inch larger rims are available for an extra charge.

Inside, the sports seats with adjustable side cushions, integrated headrests and a pneumatic massage function, upholstered in a combination of pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara in Soul, Rotor gray and Magma red, will impress. The decorative panels have the form of matt brushed aluminium. In front of the driver, the Audi virtual cockpit can be optionally supplied with a 12.3-inch display and three different display modes – one of which is a sports mode with a tachometer in the middle. The MMI multimedia system is also available in several forms. The highlight is MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch, an 8.3-inch screen and control (among other things) via a touchpad that is integrated into the rotary control. As part of the extra charges, you can opt for a Bang & Olufsen audio system with surround sound or a HUD display.
