After Monday's preview of the new bulletproof Mercedes S 600 Guard , yesterday was followed by an official presentation directly by the Stuttgart car company. Thanks to this, it was confirmed that in addition to first-class safety , the bulletproof "bear" will also offer first-class luxury .
Compared to the initially announced VR7 level ballistic protection, the S 600 Guard even has a VR9 level , which means that it can withstand, for example, bullets from an AK-47 submachine gun or an M61-AP 7.62 caliber assault rifle . In terms of explosives, the limousine complies with the ERV2010 directive. The Michelin PAX tires with higher sidewalls are also more durable and can travel another 30 km even after a puncture, behind which we can find a reinforced braking system. The Mercedes S 600 Guard allegedly has no weak points .
Such unique protection was achieved by using protective components made of a special type of steel , which are built between the body panels and the internal structure of the car. In order to withstand the high heat, the car is equipped with aramid and polyethylene fibers . The windows with a laminate structure are covered with polycarbonate on the inside, the chassis has been modified to withstand the explosion of a grenade or mine. There are fire extinguishers or a container with fresh air in the trunk.
The other side of the coin is the first-class luxury that the S 600 Guard, available only with an extended wheelbase , will offer its crew. In addition to the rear seats with a massage function (there can be 2 or 3), there are LED reading lights, a specially modified air chassis , the possibility to transform the back of the car into a mobile office, a champagne cooler , a special rear ventilation system or heated side windows. A night vision system, a 360-degree camera around the car , blind spot monitoring, lane departure monitoring, a Pre-Safe brake or an electronic parking brake are standard features.
From a visual point of view, there is a flag holder , diodes in the radiator grille and in the rear window, but otherwise you can't tell the bulletproof S class from the classic one. As can already be seen from the name, the engine of the Guard is based on the top version of the S 600 with a six-liter twelve-cylinder twin-turbo with an output of 530 hp and a torque of 830 Nm, which, in combination with the 7G-Tronic automatic , is enough for a maximum speed of 210 km/h. The price is around 8.9 million crowns , of course without all possible surcharges.
