The new BMW M3 and M4 will be presented in Detroit next year

Recently, the Munich-based carmaker discontinued the production of the successful M3 Coupé E92 , and therefore most die-hard fans of the BMW brand are waiting for the introduction of a successor in the form of the M4. And finally, it looks promising, as the news has arrived about when and where the premiere of the new M3 and M4 will take place.

Specifically, the CEO of BMW M Performance outlined that the premiere of the two performance models will most likely take place at the Detroit Auto Show , which begins in January 2014. In an interview with the American website MotorTrend , Friedrich Nitschke stated: "I think both the M3 and the M4 will debut in Detroit". He declined to go into detail, but confirmed that both cars will have a carbon roof or a carbon fiber trunk lid.

Competing performance models from Audi and Mercedes have all-wheel drive , but BMW does not want to follow the same path. According to Nitschke, it is not necessary for the M division models, as it just spoils the handling and the new M3 would be 80 kg heavier . So the expected M3 and M4 will only have rear-wheel drive, but will offer excellent traction thanks to a new traction control system.

At the end, director Nitschke also confirmed that he wants a successor to the 1 M Coupé and that we will see it soon.
