Porsche Panamera facelift – V6 BiTurbo and V8 TDI

Porsche is testing hard the new version of its Panamera flagship, which we have seen in the recent past thanks to photos taken near the Arctic Circle. It is also no secret that the facelift will not provide any dramatic changes and will rather take the path of light evolution.

However, one big unknown now arises regarding the available powertrains. In fact, an unnamed foreign magazine printed a report that implies the future use of a twice-turbocharged six-cylinder gasoline engine and a diesel V8 TDI . In the first case, we know the maximum power (313 kW), which perhaps reveals a replacement for the naturally aspirated V8 as part of the downsizing . The parameters of the diesel version have not yet been published, but we can expect the same engine that we know from, for example, the Audi A8 . In the Ingolstadt flagship, it has a volume of 4.2 liters, a maximum output of 258 kW and 800 Nm of torque. In addition, we know from earlier reports that a strengthened diesel version of the Cayenne SUV is on the way, which will most likely get this eight-cylinder engine.

Enough about unconfirmed rumours, and let's focus on the obvious. The facelifted Porsche Panamera will not go on sale until 2015, which according to the general public is too late. Let's also expect an increase in performance for the existing power units, but mainly the use of the MSB platform. Thanks to it, the cumbersome Panamera will lose weight rapidly, specifically by 91 kilograms.
