Porsche 911 (991) GT2 still uncertain!

The last generation of the iconic Porsche 911 (997) offered countless different variants that satisfied just about every fan. At the very top of road derivatives was the GT2 model (photo in the gallery), i.e. the GT2 RS , which everyone is looking forward to even in the current generation 991 . But in the end this version might not come at all and we know why…

Car and Driver spoke with August Achleitner , who heads the Porsche 911 program . He indicated that the modern 991 in the GT2 version might not come at all and all the circulating information about this car is just speculation . It is said that there are political reasons at Porsche for not presenting the top -of-the-line 911 . In addition, technical obstacles also arise. In the past, the GT2 was based on the Turbo S version, which was stripped of all-wheel drive and sharpened. But given that the current Turbo S produces 560 horsepower and sprints to 100 km/h in three seconds , the car's dynamics would suffer without the help of the front wheels. The GT2 model with a significantly higher price tag , but worse traction , would therefore probably be difficult to sell.

Still, Achleitner didn't say the GT2 was definitely not coming. He even indirectly hinted at plans for a similar car, but did not say exactly what it would be. So it is possible that the GT2 will be replaced by the GT3 RS or a similar car. We are curious how it will turn out in the end. If GT2 is offered by Porsche after all, we wouldn't be angry if it looked like the render from Perfect Finish , which you can find in the gallery.
