We will not see a new Cadillac XLR based on the Corvette

There are not many people on the European continent, that is, here in the small Czech country, who know the Cadillac XLR . This car was based on the Chevrolet Corvette C5 , so naturally, when the new generation Corvette was introduced, there was also talk of a derived XLR . What does it look like with a sporty Cadillac ?

There is no point in stressing you out, and the title actually already revealed it at the very beginning – we will not see a successor to the Cadillac XLR (photo in the gallery) based on the new generation Corvette C7 Stingray (photo in the gallery). What is the reason? GM management said that the new Corvette was designed specifically for its potential customers, and a version sold under a different brand simply does not count.

But that doesn't mean we won't see a big GT from Cadillac ! They are talking about the production form of the amazing Elmiraj concept . It's aimed at slightly different customers than the original XLR , but that's not a bad thing. After all, XLR was no sales miracle.

And what exactly was the Cadillac XLR ? It was the flagship of the brand, built on the basis of the Chevrolet Corvette C5 (photo in the gallery). The XLR was introduced in Detroit 2003 and remained in production until 2009. Under the front hood was a petrol V8 that drove the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. A total of 15,460 units of this car were sold.
