Mercedes presented the top of the S-Class range so far

Although the widely expected Maybach or Pullman model did not arrive, Mercedes is exhibiting the most luxurious version of the S-Class to date in Detroit. It has the designation S 600 and will be offered only with a single engine and an extended wheelbase.

However, the larger size will not be the only difference compared to the classic "eSku". If you thought that it was impossible to get more assistance elements, take a look at the list of standard equipment of the S 600. Intelligent LED lighting , the Magic Body Control system with cameras that monitor the road surface in front of the vehicle and the Driving Assistance Plus package, which includes warnings when veering out of the lane, monitoring the blind spot and a system monitoring the traffic behind and in front of the car.

For the first time in any S-class model, a touchpad will be available to control the multimedia system, a head-up display , displaying navigation data or the current speed status, and the Collision Prevention Assist Plus system, which will mitigate the consequences of an impact up to a speed of 200 km/h and completely prevent accident into the car in front of you up to a speed of 40 km/h. All three innovations will also appear in the standard S-Class models, while the touchpad and head-up display will be extra, and the Collision Prevention Assist Plus system will replace the Collision Prevention Assist system in the standard equipment.

Under the hood of the top class S will be a twelve-cylinder with two turbochargers and a volume of six liters . The maximum output of 530 hp is complemented by a torque of 830 Nm, which will be available from 1900 rpm. The engine will use not only the services of the Eco stop/start system, but above all the seven-speed automatic 7G-Tronic Plus, so consumption will drop compared to its predecessor to 11.1 l/100 km, which means a saving of 21%.
