Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG finally officially revealed

Today, the German premium car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled the modernized E63 AMG model in sedan and station wagon versions , which will be presented to the public for the first time next week at the Detroit Auto Show . After all, the final appearance was no longer a big unknown, as the car company itself lured all its fans at the beginning of this week with the first unofficial photo showing all body versions of the new Éček . So what's new with the top spec?

First of all, the completely new front part of the car, which is now dominated by one-piece headlights, wonderfully complemented by an aggressive bumper with rich chrome plating and large air intakes. Also new are the side sills, the trunk lid and the rear bumper with a diffuser that hides the four tailpipes of the sports exhaust system.

The E63 AMG version will be powered by a 5.5-liter forked eight-cylinder doped with a pair of turbochargers tuned to an output of 410 kW (557 hp) at 5,500 rpm and a torque of 720 Nm available from 1,750 rpm. In practice, these numbers mean nothing more than acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. It is traditionally limited electronically. For an additional fee, AMG will then move the limiter up to the magical value of 300 km/h.

Of course, be careful! In the photos, we see the very first sedan from the AMG workshops that received 4MATIC all-wheel drive . Despite the increase in weight by a non-negligible 70 kilograms, we can expect a drastic improvement in traction. This is also evidenced by the time required to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h, which is shortened to 3.7 seconds for the sedan version, or to 3.7 seconds for the station wagon variant.

The highlight of the range will be the E63 AMG 4MATIC S version with a revised chassis and rear limited-slip differential, the hallmark of which will be 19-inch matte-painted wheels and a power unit boosted by 28 hp and 80 Nm, which means nothing more than one-tenth faster acceleration from zero to 100 km/h. Power is transmitted to all wheels via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission, which offers four modes: C (Controlled Efficiency), S (Sport), S + (Sport Plus) and M (Manual). Brakes with 360 mm diameter ceramic ventilated discs with silver brake calipers will take care of stopping the performance model safely. The S-Model will then get the calipers painted red.

The rear-wheel drive version will go on sale at the beginning of April, the 4MATIC and 4MATIC S variants in June at an as yet unspecified price.
