Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Heading For Production!

Do you still remember the virtual predator Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo , which was intended for the game Gran Turismo 6 ? According to the latest news, this monster could go into production ! Feel free to check your calendars, April Fools is not today…

In November of this year, we presented the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept , designed by the brand's designers directly for the game Gran Turismo 6 . Only one real 1:1 scale model was to be built for exhibition purposes. However, now it seems that a little more of them will be created and hit the road !

No, Mercedes-Benz itself, nor AMG , do not plan to send the car to production. Behind the idea to get Vision Gran Turismo onto the market is Jeff Halverson , who is luring customers through advertising on the James Edition website. In the description, he writes that he will use the SLS AMG GT model as a basis, which he will transform into a complete carbon body , including a retractable rear wing. This will reduce the weight of the car by more than 90 kg . Chrome paint and wheels from the company ADV.1 are to be used. In the interior, Halverson offers new upholstery according to the customer's choice. The technology of the donor car is not to be used, only the exhaust system will be replaced.

Only five pieces are to be made, with two destined for Europe, two for the Middle East and one for the United States. One of these models allegedly already knows its owner. The price of each piece is supposed to be around the astronomical 1.5 million dollars , i.e. roughly 30 million crowns.

Whether you believe the ad or not, there could be two major problems with the eventual production of Vision Gran Turismo . One of them is the fact that the SLS AMG GT has significantly different dimensions than the concept. The second possible problem is the possibility that Mercedes-Benz has a patent on the appearance of its virtual car and therefore could ban Jeff Halverson 's production.
