McLaren has revealed the brutal P1 GTR

It looks like a race car, but it's not exactly a race car. Nevertheless, quite possibly the most brutal McLaren of all time is destined only for the circuit in the hands of the chosen ones. However, the P1 GTR will not be driven by racing drivers, but by "ordinary drivers" who will pay the British automaker an appropriate amount.

More precisely, they will have to pay 1.98 million pounds (approx. 68.8 million crowns) and also own one of the 375 produced road versions of the P1. Nevertheless, the investment is well worth it, and I am certainly not talking about the special P1 GTR driving program , which works as a mental and physical preparation for driving an extreme machine, which also includes training with a professional racer and on the brand's simulator.

I'm talking about McLaren's claim to have prepared the best driving car for a circuit in the world . And that is a very bold claim. It all starts in the guts of the car, with the 3.8-liter twin-turbo eight-cylinder, which is placed in the middle, and the electric motor. This hybrid system provides an output of 1000 horsepower and, according to unconfirmed information, the GTR accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.

Visible changes took place on the body, which was modified with the aim of the best possible aerodynamics . In the front part, there is a massive splitter that covers the rear axle, which has been extended by 80 mm. The air inlets to the radiator in the front part have been adjusted, the intake opening on the roof is completely new, and there are several new elements on the sides of the body, improving the flow of air around the carbon body. The air flow to the rear radiators has also been adjusted, and thanks to the new floor and rear diffuser, the P1 GTR generates more downforce on the rear axle . Certainly the most visible modification of the bodywork is the massive rear wing made of two parts, which, like Formula 1 cars, has the DRS (Drag Reduction System) function. This works by using the driver's command to open the rear spoiler for a certain period of time (on the straights) and thanks to the modified air flow, you will be a little bit faster with it. The central exhaust system is also unmissable.

Following the example of racing cars, the car's ground clearance was permanently lowered . The transfer of power to the circuit surface is handled by specially developed Pirelli tires , shod on 19-inch wheels with a central nut, 10.5 inches wide at the front and 13 inches at the rear. At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the P1 GTR is then presented as a concept with a body design referencing the original test McLaren F1 GTR with chassis number 01R. Production will start exactly one year after the last road-going P1 leaves the factory.
