For its debut at the International Motor Show in Paris, the British manufacturer of super sports cars, McLaren , has prepared a real treat for its loyal fans – the concept of the successor to the legendary F1 model , which is currently hiding under the code name P1 . So what do we know so far about the new paycheck ?
We know, for example, that according to the car company, it should be the fastest car on race tracks. McLaren is not about maximum speed in a straight line, but about the rewarding experience behind the wheel that should be delivered by the most technologically advanced and dynamic vehicle ever to roll off the production line. Those are really bold words, but considering what a legend the F1 model has become, we have to trust McLaren to build an all-around fantastic supercar. In addition, the drive should be taken care of by a twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder with a displacement of 3.8 liters, known from the MP4-12C , which should have a power of around 800 hp and, thanks to the kinetic energy recovery system, it should be possible to increase this power for a short time up to 963 horses. If we transfer these numbers to the road, we should get to acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and a top speed approaching the magical value of 400 km/h.
The McLaren P1 scores points in our editorial office for one more thing. And by design. He went in a completely different direction than what we know, for example, from the Italian beauties, and so we can admire the really aggressive look again based on the MP4-12C . Next to the front part, which we could call somewhat unconventional, we have to admire the crazy rear with a giant diffuser and minimalistic headlights. In short and well, we see a car that you won't mistake for anything on the road. And that already in a year!
