McLaren is preparing a rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo

Following the success of the 12C coupe and cabriolet and the P1 hybrid supercar , McLaren is gearing up for a third road-going model, codenamed the P13 . The "Baby P1" will arrive late next year and its main goal is to take down the Porsche 911 Turbo .

The basic model of the British car company's offer will have a turbocharged eight-cylinder 3.8 with an output of around 450 horsepower. Weight will be less than the 12C, which weighs 1,434 kg, and significantly less than the rival 911 Turbo , which weighs 1,600 kg. However, even thanks to the lower weight, the P13, due to the lack of all-wheel drive, will not be better in acceleration than the 911 Turbo, which "does" 100 km/h in 3.4 s (with the PDK automatic in 3.1 s).

The design of the P13 will be heavily inspired by the P1 supersport. As shown in an exclusive render by the UK's Auto Express , the entry-level McLaren will have a similar front-end rendering with two hood intakes and LED headlights. Like the brand's larger models, the P13 will be built around a carbon monocoque .

The McLaren P13 will be presented to the public for the first time at the end of next year. Sales will then start in 2015, the base price will be around 120,000 pounds (approx. 3,627,000 CZK).
