Lincoln MKS 2016 – First information

The days when Lincoln was one of the best-selling luxury brands in the US in the late 1990s are long gone. Currently, the manufacturer's market share is around 0.56% , which is almost at the limit of existence . The upcoming new generation of the MKS model could help.

The current generation of Lincoln MKS (photo in the gallery) is not a sales blockbuster, so it is no surprise that the successor will be completely different. Above all, it is to receive a more distinctive design inspired by the recent MKC concept . The bodywork will also feature small details inspired by the brand's cars from the seventies.

The extended Ford Taurus platform will be used as the basis for the next MKS . This means front-wheel drive as standard, with four-wheel drive offered by Lincoln for an extra charge. The basic engine of the car will be a V6 2.9l EcoBoost with the nickname Nano, which will provide an output of around 300 horsepower . A more powerful variant of the MKS model gets a V6 3.5l EcoBoost with more than 360 horsepower under the hood. Initially, a six-speed automatic will be installed, but over time it will be replaced by a nine-speed automatic from the joint development of Ford and GM .

Lincoln counts Buick LaCrosse , Cadillac XTS or Lexus ES among its main competitors on the American market. Compared to them, however, the MKS is supposed to be sleeker and more comfortable, which will also be helped by the planned Black Label program . The novelty will also try to be successful in the Chinese market.

The serial version of the car will arrive in dealers' showrooms at the end of 2015 as a 2016 model year. The price is estimated at around 43,000 dollars , which translates to over 800,000 CZK. Lincoln desperately needs the next-generation MKS to succeed.
