The lightweight Jaguar E-Type is coming

We already wrote that Jaguar will produce 6 lightweight E-Type cars. These are hand built in the Jaguar Heritage department. Originally, 18 cars were to be built in 1963, but only 12 were produced. Jaguar decided to finish producing the missing pieces now. The first completed example of this year's series will be presented at the Pebble Beach show in California . All modern E-Types are built exactly like the original ones. Any improvement of technical parameters is not considered. Cars are even created in the same factory hall in Coventry .

The body received a number of aluminum parts, thanks to which the lightweight E-Type is 114 kg thinner. Specifically, the hood, trunk lid and doors are made of aluminum. An aluminum hardtop is also standard. Under the hood is the 3.8-liter straight-six XK with a capacity of 340 horsepower, which, for example, powered the famous D-Type when it won Le Mans in 1957. Each car will have a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Nevertheless, modern E-Types have a few minor changes, such as larger brakes. In the spartan interior, however, there is the same wooden three-spoke steering wheel.

However, Jaguar will carefully select the six buyers for these cars. It should be someone who will appropriately represent the brand with the new E-Type . The automaker would also like to see these E-Types at vintage car races.
