Until now, only German automakers (with the exception of the American Jeep) have been involved in the production of sports derivatives of large SUVs . However, all the "eM" BMWs or "AMG" Mercedes now have tough competition – the fastest SUV on the Nordschleife, the Range Rover Sport SVR .
The Range Rover's time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds was mainly helped by the supercharged five-liter eight-cylinder engine , which, like the Jaguar F-Type R Coupé, has an output of 550 horsepower and a torque of 680 Nm. Thanks to the sporty eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, the SUV weighing more than two tons accelerates to 96 km/h in 4.5 seconds and the limiter kicks in at up to 260 km/h. This puts it at the top of the brand ranking of the most powerful and at the same time fastest cars. At the same time, consumption remains at a paper-pleasing 12.8 l/100 km, and every kilometer the SUV releases 299 g of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential locks much faster on the SVR and can send maximum torque to the rear wheel with more traction. The inter-axle differential with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch , together with the already mentioned all-wheel drive using the Terrain Response 2 system, is especially suitable for terrain, where, despite its undisputed sporting ambitions, the Range Rover can handle a ford with a depth of 850 mm. When driving on the road, on the other hand, you will use torque vectoring, as well as an improved Active-Roll Control system , using hydraulic pumps instead of classic stabilizers, or an air suspension with new shock absorbers and springs that are stiffer and lighter. Brembo brakes are in charge of stopping the huge SUV safely.
From a visual point of view, you can recognize the SVR version by the front bumper with larger air intakes , a new radiator grille, more prominently shaped mudguards and side skirts, a rear spoiler or a diffuser with four exhaust tips. The 21-inch wheels (one inch bigger for an extra charge) with Continental Cross Contact tires are great. The interior features two-tone Oxford leather-trimmed sports seats, along with SVR logos and aluminum trim, which can be replaced with carbon at an extra cost.
The premiere will take place on August 14 in Pebble Beach , the base price was set at 110,475 dollars (approx. 2,296,000 crowns).
