Koenigsegg presented the incredible Regera model

Two years ago, Geneva was excited by a pair of hyper sports cars from Ferrari and McLaren, last year the Koenigsegg One:1 with a power of over 1 MW was shown at the same place! The Swedish car company conquered the Palexpo exhibition center again this year, when it showed everyone the LaFerrari, P1 or 918 Spyder with a raised middle finger . Her new hypersport, if this car can still be called that, the Regera playfully puts all the aforementioned in its pocket.

It is probably not by chance that the name Regera was chosen, which means to rule. And believe me, this car will rule! Its main trump card is the Koenigsegg Direct Drive drive system, abbreviated KDD, consisting of a five-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine with two turbochargers with an output of 1,100 hp and a torque of 1,250 Nm and three electric motors with an output of 700 hp and a torque of 900 Nm, developed in cooperation with the car manufacturer Rimac . Two electric motors at the rear drive the wheels of the rear axle, the front electric motor is connected to the crankshaft and the car is used for smooth starts, torque vectoring and regenerative braking. The total output of the hybrid system thus exceeds 1,500 hp and 2,000 Nm , much more than the closest competition, which is enough to accelerate to 400 km/h in less than 20 seconds and accelerate from 150 to 250 km/h in 3.2 seconds. Part of the KDD system are 620 V batteries in the central tunnel of the carbon-aramid chassis, again developed in cooperation with Rimac, with a capacity of 9.27 kWh, which weigh 115 kg and occupy 67 liters. In addition, the entire system is said to be able to drive 35-50 km purely on electricity. On the other hand, what you would look for in vain is a conventional gearbox . The Regera simply doesn't need it because it can create a direct connection between the combustion engine and the rear axle. This solution almost halves power, friction and heat losses, and through it the batteries receive up to 204 horsepower during regenerative braking. It is appropriate to end the Thursday moment of technical poetry with a dry weight of 1420 kg , respectively 1628 kg with added operating fluids and gasoline.

From a distance, you should recognize the Regera not by the noise from the central titanium exhaust tip produced by Akrapovič, but by the LED daytime running lights in the front lights. These are supposed to create an unmistakable light signature. The connector to connect the car to the electrical network, since it is a plug-in hybrid, you would find it in the rear under the flip-up license plate . Perfect aerodynamics are promised by the front and rear active wings and especially the active rear wing with electronic control. This is part of a fully robotic body , where the typical door opening 90 degrees forward, the adjustment of all electronic parts or the flap in the exhaust pipe can be controlled electronically using a smartphone app. The air conditioning unit in the car can also be preset in the same way. In addition to air conditioning, the interior is decorated with unconventionally shaped ventilation outlets, a multimedia system with 3G Internet connection and Apple CarPlay interface, or sports seats with a carbon structure and electric adjustment in six directions. The crew is isolated from annoying noise and vibrations thanks to active engine mounts, but during sporty driving a slightly more substantial sound penetrates the cabin. Traction and stability control , which comes standard with three modes, has also been adapted for sporty driving.

A total of 80 cars are supposed to be hand-made in Sweden, which is certainly not a small number. It can be understood, however, because unlike such an Agera, the Regera has worldwide homologation and can thus be legally sold in the USA, for example.
