The Jaguar XJ will also be offered with a more spacious body

The British Jaguar brand presented its flagship XJ four years ago in London in the form of a four-door limousine only. According to initial information, we will soon see a new generation, which will probably have two bodies , but the new one should only be for the Chinese market.

The first one will not be revolutionary in anything, it will still be a limousine with two pairs of doors. However, the new second body should no longer have a sloping roof. This is to provide more headroom in the cabin. This decision was probably taken due to Chinese demand, which prioritizes comfort over aesthetics.

There is not much information about the next generation Jaguar XJ , but it could feature a plug-in hybrid system . This would consist of a 2.0 -liter turbocharged gasoline engine, an electric motor with a capacity of 94 horsepower and lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 12.3 kWh. The new Jaguar XJ could thus offer a total output of 335 horsepower , which would mean acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaching an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h. The new generation XJ should travel 40 km purely on electricity and the combined fuel consumption will be around 3.2 l/100 km (about 1100 km range on a full tank). The planned Jaguar XJ will undergo a certain "diet" and the hybrid drive will also receive a number of improvements.

It is assumed that the new generation Jaguar XJ will be introduced during 2015 or 2016. It is not yet confirmed whether the second body will be only for China or if the automaker will offer it worldwide.
