Jaguar showed a new version of the XK coupe

Jaguar is celebrating a smaller anniversary this year. 25 years of models with the R badge on the trunk, hood and God knows where else. As a celebration of this jubilee, the British carmaker gave itself an almost racing version of the XKR-S model.

At first glance, the GT version does not differ much from the XKR-S . You still get the 550-horsepower, five-liter turbocharged V8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. But what differs from the classic XKR-S is the aerodynamics.

Only the massive rear wing , which is made of carbon, can produce a downforce of 145 kg at a speed of 300 km/h . Look for the next part of the aerodynamic package on the front bumper. A carbon splitter is mounted there, which widens the bumper by 60 mm, as well as discreet carbon wings that improve the air flow around the car. The mudguards were slightly widened and a new carbon diffuser can also be found at the rear.

These innovations helped Jaguar improve acceleration to 100 km/h by 0.3 seconds (from 4.2 s to 3.9 s). However, the top speed of 280 km/h remained the same. The chassis received new suspension arms, wheel bearings and the rear subframe was inspired by the smaller F-Type. The steering rack also comes from the same model. The shock absorbers are newly adjustable and stiffer by 68% at the front and 25% at the rear.

Carbon-ceramic brakes with a diameter of 398 mm at the front and 380 mm at the rear with effective yellow calipers will ensure a safe stop. The brakes are hidden behind twenty-inch wheels with Pirelli Corsa tires .

Only 30 XKR-S GTs will be produced in total. And all 30 will also remain overseas. But it can be expected that Europe will not be impoverished by something similar.
