Infiniti is preparing a supersport, but only after the Q30 and QX30 models

The Japanese Nissan offers the luxurious GT-R in the super sports segment, but the luxury branch called Infiniti does not currently have a similar model in its portfolio that could be compared to the aforementioned Nissan GT-R . But according to a new published report, it looks like Infiniti is planning something like this after all.

Fintan Knight , head of the marque's European presence, revealed to the UK 's Autocar : "We are still undecided". This answer mainly refers to whether the Japanese automaker should place the engine in the front or in the middle of the planned super sports car. The engine compartment is also not yet clear, but it will probably be fitted with a six-cylinder gasoline engine working with an electric motor .

As for the design, it will most likely be based on the previously presented concepts – Essence and Emerg-e . Infiniti can also be expected to benefit from its partnership with Red Bull Racing , especially now that Sebastian Vettel has been named the automaker's chief executive. However, the supersport should be presented in five years at the earliest and will be produced only after the launch of the smaller Q30 sedan or the discussed QX30 crossover, which will be a kind of more luxurious variant of the Nissan Juke. Both the sedan and the crossover are likely to be revealed during 2015 .
