Urban candy, or the smallest sibling of the Seoul line of "íček". This time I had the opportunity to taste the small Hyundai I10. This is a typical favorite of the smallest cars on the market. Thanks to its small size and good maneuverability, it will not get lost in the city at all. This car belongs to the segment of smallest cars such as Fiat 500 , Smart or Vw UP.
The base price starts at less than 200 thousand. With a liter three-cylinder engine and full equipment, including automatic transmission, we get to 294,900 thousand. The model I tested was equipped with a four-cylinder unit with a capacity of 1250cc and a power of 66kW. Although this engine variant does not shine with power, its smooth and gentle operation is an ideal solution for the city. It should be mentioned here that with all assistants and full equipment, including heated front seats and steering wheel, the price will not increase significantly. As for equipment, our particular one included a heated steering wheel and front seats.
As I mentioned above, our car included a naturally aspirated four-cylinder. This option is ideal for the city. Under city conditions, we can count on a consumption of up to 5 liters/100km, but if we decide to move along the highway at a speed of around 130km/h, the consumption rises rapidly. My combined consumption was 5.4L/100km. Here you can clearly see that this is a city car, used mainly for everyday shopping or transporting children to schools or nurseries. Among the assistance systems we can find, for example, lane keeping, collision warning, a reversing camera and other pleasant elements. The LED turn signals placed in the side mirrors, which are simply needed in the city, can also be considered a valuable safety feature.
When it comes to transporting children, these are ideal conditions. It is difficult for an adult of average height to sit comfortably in the rear seats. Although the seller states that the new I10 has no problem comfortably seating 5 adult passengers in its bowels, five adults can certainly fit in it, but there is no question of sufficient comfort. You probably wouldn't want to travel much in this car with a full load of passengers on vacation or a longer trip. There is no space to spare. We won't find much space in the front either, and people used to the space outside the car while driving will be slightly disappointed. But since it is such a small city car, the reduced space simply belongs to it. The luggage space provides 252 liters, even 1046 liters after folding the rear seats. In this vehicle segment, it provides one of the largest luggage spaces on the market among its competitors. The loading edge is quite high here. The alarm clocks on the dashboard are arranged very clearly and thanks to the multifunctional steering wheel, the driver has everything he needs at hand. I was also pleasantly surprised by the LCD display, with clear, easily adjustable navigation. The i10 also boasts great connectivity.
Compared to its predecessor, the new I10 received new attractive curves, a new shape of the front mask, bumper and headlights. It gives a straightforward, self-assured impression. The innovation of the exterior, we can thank, among other things, for the cascading front grille, which should reflect the direction of Hyundai's design development. As I mentioned above, the headlights have also undergone a significant change. They have been rounded, which fits perfectly with the new dynamic look of the i10. I must not forget the new circular lights for daytime running lights, in order to strengthen the sporty character of the car. Another novelty is the sporty cast or steel wheels of 15 or 14 inches. It looks really pleasant and dynamic for such a small car. The new facelift is really noticeable and pleasing to the eye from the outside. The rear bumper has also undergone a change with a contrasting central part and, similar to the front, circular, this time fog lights. In the base, the customer also gets tinted glass for the rear side doors and the trunk.
This car performs 100% the function for which it was created. So, if you are looking for a car for your daily commute to work, shopping or transporting your children, the I10 is the right choice.
