Honda has built the fastest lawnmower in the world

If you wanted to find the most bizarre means of transportation in the world, the Honda Mean Mower would surely be at the top of the list. However, the 110-horsepower lawnmower , in addition to being bizarre, also achieved one notable success – it officially became the fastest lawnmower in the world !

Piers Ward from the BBC TopGear magazine, who also participated in the development of the Mean Mower, did it on Saturday at the IDIADA test circuit in Tarragona, Spain , under the supervision of a Guinness World Records judge. The value of the average maximum speed is 187.6 km/h , which is more than 45 km/h more than before.

Speed was measured using a segment measuring device on a 100 meter track and the measurement was overseen by official timekeepers from Timing Solutions Limited. To qualify for the Guinness Book of World Records, the lawnmower had to complete the same course in both directions within one hour , with the average speed calculated as the average of the two measured times.

As a reminder – the basis of the Mean Mower is the HF2620 model, which is equipped with a spacious frame, new suspension and, above all , a 110-horsepower liter engine from the Honda VTR Firestorm motorcycle . The mower can sprint to 96 km/h in 4 seconds and theoretically accelerates to 209 km/h. A six-speed transmission transmits power to all four wheels. To make the machine even more extreme, most of the plastic parts are made of laminate. Thanks to this, this "devil" can boast an output of 532 horses per ton !

If you think that these modifications made the mower lose the ability to mow your garden (which it had to do to register), you are very wrong. There is still a 3 mm thick blade available, which is rotated by two electric motors at up to 4000 rpm! The maximum mowing speed can be up to 24 km/h (double that of the regular HF2620 model).
