Among the stars of the Frankfurt Motor Show , we would probably not find the Audi Sport Quattro concept . However, the hybrid follower of the famous model from the 1980s was not to see production according to the original plans . But now everything is different.
We could see the serial Sport Quattro or only the Quattro as early as 2015. The shortened Audi A6 platform would serve as the basis. However, the hybrid unit consisting of a four-liter eight-cylinder twin-turbo and an electric motor with a capacity of 700 hp and a torque of 800 Nm would no longer appear under the hood. According to Ulrich Hackenberg, head of the development of the German brand, the basic engine would be a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with an output of 340-365 horsepower.
This would then be supplemented by a hybrid drive unit with an as yet unspecified output. Aluminum and carbon would be used to a large extent on the body, so that the criticized high weight of the concept would be reduced to some 1300 kg .
