Ferrari Enzo II – From 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds thanks to the HY-KERS system

Even before the start of the auto show in Beijing, we reported on the preparations and testing of the successor to the fantastic Ferrari Enzo . At that time, we were amazed by the photos of the camouflaged car, which, paradoxically, was not on the race track, but in the city. The reason was revealed very soon – the successor named F70 will actually be a hybrid .

Don't be fooled by the idea that everyone in Maranello would jump on the bandwagon and the new model would go the downsizing route. The word "hybrid" is due to the installation of the HY-KERS system, which is familiar from Formula 1, where it helps single-seaters during overtaking maneuvers and when exiting corners. After all, the finished version of the supersport system was presented at the ongoing Chinese auto show.

Everything is basically very simple – the hybrid system combines a 6.2-liter twelve-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor that stores energy in lithium-ion batteries. These will be supplied to the manufacturer by Samsung Electronics. If you think that there will be a rapid increase in the weight of the car, you are right. Specifically, it is 120 kilograms, which, however, Ferrari wants to remove from the chassis and drivetrain.

What is the result of all the effort? The successor of the Ferrari Enzo accelerates to 100 km/h in exactly 3 seconds, despite only rear-wheel drive, and with the simultaneous increase in power to 800 hp, it shows up to 40% fuel savings! If you're wondering who cares about consumption at Ferrari , I offer a very short answer – ecologists with Euro 6 guidelines under their pillow.

In an interview with the press, the CEO said that the car will use the same carbon fiber chassis as this year's generation of Formula 1 single-seaters. This will achieve greater strength and lower weight than Ferrari cars produced to date.
