Dodge SRT Viper officially unveiled in New York

Here we have what we have all been waiting for a long time! After endless teasers and low-quality photos from promo videos, we can finally officially introduce the new Dodge SRT Viper . The automaker couldn't choose a better place for its debut than the home auto show in New York .

In terms of design, the car has come closer to current trends. I personally really like the front bi-xenon lights , the huge front bumper with an integrated splitter and large spaces for air supply to the engine and brakes. The bulges on the roof are a reference to the first generation Viper , the exhaust system led in the side skirts like a six-seater. The rear part reminds many of the Maserati GranTurismo , but here it is enriched with a massive spoiler and LED diode lights. In short, the new Dodge SRT Viper goes with the times, although the overall concept of the shapes seems quite moderate.

While the previous generation of the car showed poor interior quality, now according to available reports, everything is fine. Valuable materials were used and modern production technologies were used. I am talking now about the sports leather seats, which are located 20 millimeters lower, the digital instrument panel, the Herman Kardon premium audio system and the Uconnect information system, with a 8.4" screen.

Under the traditional long hood is a ten- cylinder with a volume of 8.4 liters. Among other things, thanks to the wide use of composite materials, high-strength forged pistons and new catalysts, the unit produces 477 kW and 814 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous generation, there was an increase of 30 kW and 54 Nm. The unit sends all the power to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new Viper is not only more powerful, but has also undergone an extensive defatting peel. The weight of 1521 kilograms, i.e. a reduction of 45 kilograms compared to the previous version, was achieved, among other things, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber, magnesium and plastic.

High performance combined with low weight begged for a perfect chassis base. The new Dodge SRT is 50% stiffer than its predecessor, thanks to a new X-shaped aluminum support under the car's hood. But it doesn't end there. Thanks to the all-new rear suspension and limited-slip differential, it's completely safe to send all the power to the rear wheels even with the traction control and stabilization system off.

In addition to the standard SRT version, the Dodge Viper will also be available in a more attractive GTS package. The main advantage is the higher equipment, including electrically adjustable leather seats, door and dashboard upholstery in the color of the car, six-spoke Venom alloy wheels and Bilstein DampTronic Select adaptive shock absorbers. Compared to the SRT version, the Viper GTS also gets softer Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
