Detroit will witness the premiere of the updated Audi R8 and RS5 Cabriolet

There are only 8 days left until the start of the North American International Auto Show 2013 , traditionally held in Detroit . So it is high time to start introducing the new products that will be presented at this motor show.

And we will start with the German premium car company Audi , which will bring to Detroit the modernized super sports model R8 and the RS5 model in the Cabriolet version. The facelift for both beauties is more cosmetic and mainly consists in the installation of new headlights consisting of LEDs, modified front bumpers and, for example, new exterior mirrors.

The new mirrors are nice, but the real fan is more interested in the changes that took place under the hood. So let's sum up the range of power units designed for the R8 . The basis is the eight-cylinder FSI fork with a displacement of 4.2 liters producing an output of 316 kW (430 hp) and the same number of newton meters of torque. The power unit will be newly connected to the seven-speed S tronic transmission, thanks to which the vehicle will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, while the maximum speed will attack the magical value of 300 km/h.

There will continue to be a forked ten-cylinder engine with a displacement of 5.2 liters offered in two performance variants. The weaker one will offer 386 kW (525 hp) and 530 Nm of torque. Acceleration from zero to a hundred? 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 314 km/h. The more powerful version then adds another 25 horsepower and 10 Nm of torque. What does that do to the momentum? The time required to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h is reduced by one-tenth, and the maximum speed value rises to 315 km/h.

However, you certainly won't be a traffic brake in the RS5 Cabriolet , which is powered by a forked eight-cylinder with a displacement of 4.2 liters tuned to an output of 331 kW (450 hp) and 430 Nm of torque. This portion of the performance of a car weighing 2,005 kilograms (!!) means nothing more than acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 280 km/h.

Both cars will go on sale in the United States this spring at undisclosed prices.
