One of the stars of this year's auto show in New York will be the open form of the sharpest version of the Z06 to date. It is characterized not only by a pleasant body, but above all by an almost zero increase in weight compared to the closed version.
According to Chevrolet, this is possible thanks to a very strong body that does not need any reinforcements. Unfortunately, specific data is missing. And they are not alone – under the hood we find the same 6.2 -liter eight-cylinder with a power of 634 hp and a torque of 861 Nm as in the coupe, but forget about the specific dynamic data . Information that the engine cooperates with a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic must be sufficient.
Visually, the only change is the application of a canvas retractable roof , which can be retracted up to a speed of 50 km/h. However, Chevrolet does not say how long it will take. Similar to the coupe, the cabriolet also gets several packages that support aerodynamics .
The base Z06 is the first to add a front splitter, rear spoiler and channels in the front undercarriages. The carbon package consists of ailerons, carbon body parts and a larger wing. The most ultimate is the Z07 package , which will increase downforce, add stickier Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires, and carbon-ceramic discs from Brembo will replace the classic brakes.
