Cadillac showed the new CT6 sedan

Cadillac has been trying unsuccessfully for several years to compete with the German premium trio of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Above all, the CTS and ATS sedans are definitely not bad, but the European clientele is not used to American chrome and big engines (although diesels and smaller turbo petrols are also available), especially when the driving characteristics are still more about comfort. So far, the latest attempt to get on the bandwagon of the aforementioned manufacturers is the more than five- meter-long CT6 limousine , which appeals directly to the richest clients.

If you like the brand's contemporary style with its large chrome grille , vertical headlights, long hood, short front overhang and long rear overhang, you'll love the CT6. At first glance, you might not guess its 5184 mm in length , 1879 mm in width, 1472 mm in height and 3106 mm between the axles. Unlike already known models, you get LED lights at both ends of the car or contactless opening of the trunk lid. The smallest alloy wheels are eighteen-inch wheels, but more often we will certainly see rims an inch or two larger. Under the jacket is the Omega platform with a significant proportion of aluminium, which reduced the weight to less than 1678 kg . Cadillac even goes so far as to call its new sedan "one of the lightest and most agile in the segment."

The driver's workplace is shaped like no other model of the brand to date. Practically the entire center console consists of a 10.2-inch screen of the CUE multimedia system, the instrument panel is also digital . Today, a comfortable limousine simply cannot do without it. The atypically shaped steering wheel is in some cases inlaid with wood to match the rest of the dashboard, the automatic transmission selector looks almost sculptural . During the ride, the crew can recharge their smartphone via a wireless charger or surf the Internet thanks to the 4G LTE connection or Wi-Fi hotspot. Perhaps the most sought-after extra will be two separate seats in the rear, which are divided by a central tunnel with HDMI and USB connections and control of the entertainment system with two ten-inch screens in the backrests of the front seats. However, these are for another and certainly a hefty extra charge. If that still wasn't enough, you can check the Bose Panaray sound system with 34 speakers or the four-zone climate control, which allows you to set the temperature individually for each seat, in the list of extras.

When viewing the range of power units, you will come across one big disappointment. The CT6 is not offered with an eight-cylinder engine , the most voluminous is a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder with an output of about 340 horsepower (Cadillac does not specify the exact output value in any case). More powerful is the three-liter six-cylinder engine with double turbocharging and an output of about 405 horsepower, while a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an output of about 269 horsepower seems a bit bizarre for such a large sedan. All three engines work together with an eight-speed automatic transmission , both six-cylinders also have all-wheel drive, which, however, is permanent only if the wheels of the rear axle slip. The weakest four-cylinder remains "only" a rear wheel.

The star lineup of safety assistants includes almost everything known from a 360-degree camera system to automatic parking assistant to automatic braking in the event of a collision with another object or person. A neat feature is the night vision system , which uses a thermal camera to recognize pedestrians and animals and display them on the dashboard. Leading the domestic American market, the Cadillac CT6 will also head to Europe, China, Korea, Japan, Israel and the Middle East.
