Cadillac is preparing a model offensive

Long gone are the days when Cadillacs were mainly large, cumbersome sedans for retired gentlemen, and now this American brand is profiled as luxury with a sporty touch. That is, similar to European competitors in the form of BMW or Mercedes-Benz . In order to increase sales and competitiveness, Cadillac plans to launch a massive model offensive.

New models such as the CTS sedan , the ELR hybrid or the Escalade SUV are currently being launched to fight for customers. The VSport sub -brand also gets a big role. However, this is just the beginning. Indeed, the president of North American GM, Mark Reuss , declared that " we have too many holes in the portfolio. In the next three to four years, we can therefore look forward to a whirlwind of new models with the Cadillac emblem on the hood.

The smallest model in the Cadillac range is the ATS model (photo in the gallery), a sedan aimed primarily at the BMW 3 Series . Its sales are satisfactory, so nothing prevents the arrival of its derivative variants. In 2014, or a year later at the latest, a sharp version of the ATS-V and a two-door coupe will come.

The larger sedan CTS (photo in the gallery) is currently presented in its latest generation and has already managed to get a number of journalists on its side. It was even just named Motor Trend magazine's 2014 Car of the Year . In the future, its sharp version CTS-V is expected, on the other hand, the station wagon (photo of the previous generation in the gallery) will probably not be listed.

The current flagship sedan is the not very convincing XTS model (photo in the gallery) with front-wheel drive. However, Cadillac is preparing a full-fledged competition for the BMW 7 series or the Audi A8 , so it is working on a model that could be called LTS . In terms of appearance, it will be based on the recently presented Elmiraj concept (photo in the gallery), the production version of which we will hopefully see in time. The LTS sedan could arrive around 2016.

Currently, Cadillac offers only two cars in the SUV segment – SRX and Escalade . The offer is therefore to be supplemented by two more models. The first will be classified below the SRX in size and is supposed to become a competitor for the BMW X3 and the like. Nothing more is known about him yet.

According to reports so far, the SRX model (photo in the gallery) is to receive a new generation in 2016, in the same year an SUV of a class larger could also arrive. This is supposed to fill the gap between the SRX and the larger Escalade . Both models offer three rows of seats and plenty of luxury, but the larger Escalade has almost double the price tag. A new SUV could therefore solve this problem.

It is thought that this SUV should offer three rows of seats and use the popular Escalade name. The basis of the new Escalade is the frame, and its driving characteristics are related to this. With the help of a famous name, the smaller SUV should offer a more convincing ride on the road and lower fuel consumption. The main competitors are to be upcoming SUVs from Maserati , Bentley and others.

The largest Escalade (photo in the gallery) will enter the markets during the next year in the basic version and the extended ESV . However, they are already thinking about its derivative variants, which were offered by the previous generation. Pick-up EXT (photo in the gallery) received a positive response, but sales fell far short of expectations. His return is therefore not certain, but it is one of the possibilities. Another is the HYBRID version (photo in the gallery), which had a similar problem with sales. The price was too high and the fuel economy unconvincing. However, according to Cadillac management, the new Escalade is structurally ready to offer both variants again, if they do get the green light.

Another area in which Cadillac wants to grow is the segment of ecological models in the form of hybrids and electric cars. The latest representative in this category is the ELR coupe (photo in the gallery), which is based on the Chevrolet Volt . Cadillac has set a relatively confident price tag that surpasses even the popular Tesla Model S. However, the automaker is fairly confident of decent sales.

In the future, a competitor for the planned Tesla Model E is also expected to be introduced in 2016. The Elmiraj flagship coupe could also get a possible hybrid variant. More is not yet known about Cadillac 's plans in this area.
