BMW M5 – It's not the miles, but the stops along the way that make memories

From a young age, Pavel Vasilev was drawn to cars, especially when he watched his father repairing his car as a child. But now he has been a lover of BMW cars for six years, which started when he bought a 540i of the E34 generation. After graduating from college, he just traded in an E39 generation BMW M5 and fell in love with older BMW models, specifically the E28 generation and the E23 generation 745i Turbo . The E28 owner community is very large in Texas and the cars survive here in perfect condition. On the website, Pavel discovered his current M5 and went halfway between Grand Junction and Houston to meet its owner. It took 28 hours, but then the car showed up at his home. They drove home in heavy rains and storms, which created a strong bond between Pavel and his new car.

The first M5 E28 that Pavel ever drove belonged to his friend Sherman. The combination of a low stance and excellent controllability enchanted Pavel. A month later, he therefore bought a 533i E28 , the driving of which reminded him a lot of his father's old VAZ 2101 from his childhood. But he only kept this car until he found the right M5 . The black copy with the original interior is from 1988 and Pavel is already the seventh owner. It was a tired piece with over 330,000 kilometers covered. It was in stock condition but needed some investment. Replacing the shock absorbers, removing rust and cleaning the interior was a must. But the engine was in perfect condition, and it was also very clean.

During the years when the M5 called him sir, Pavel bought new original parts, for example the original toolbox or airbox. However, over the last year and a half, his M5 received SPAX shocks and springs, a set of big brakes, a Billy Boat exhaust, and seventeen-inch BBS RS090 wheels. The interior was also restored to its original shine. However, the biggest modification was the conversion to the European version, so that it reminded Pavlov of his native country – Bulgaria. Pavel has driven another 20,000 kilometers with the car and praises how alive it is. In addition, the fact that he practically repaired it himself with the help of friends in his garage fills him with a sense of joy. Pavel prefers to take his M5 on winding roads in the USA, in the forests of Virginia and North Carolina . A total of 1,340 M5 E28s were sold in the US, but this one will be unique to Pavlo. He imprinted something of himself on her. And of course, the European bumpers instead of the large American ones make this M5 exceptional even next to other cars. And Pavel rightly says that he lives his life with a legend.
