BMW 6 Gran Coupe officially

And it's finally here! Munich-based BMW is once again taking on the Mercedes-Benz brand and officially presents the 6 Series Gran Coupe model. It is 111 millimeters longer than the three-door car from which it is based and is intended as a direct competitor to the Mercedes CLS and Audi A7.

From the point of view of the exterior design, it is already clear at first glance where to place the car. The increasingly popular extended four-door coupe category is attractive to mobile customers mainly due to the aura of the model, which provided the main elements of the body, interior and chassis, but also for its spaciousness and wider range of uses. These may then be the aspects that will keep the new Gran Coupe from falling to the tail of the sales charts, and we will see it on the streets more often.

It is obvious from the photos that the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is mainly about the luxury of the crew. Electric and heated seat upholstery with Dakota leather, automatic dual-zone climate control, GPS navigation and a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system are standard. The interior with a 4+1 arrangement will offer space not only for the crew, but also for their luggage. 460 liters of luggage volume is a very respectable value.

Under the hood, two six-cylinder and one eight-cylinder appear. The basis among the gasoline units is the turbocharged six-cylinder 40i with a volume of 3 liters and a maximum power of 235 kW. Together with 450 Nm of torque, it enables acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and attacks an electronically limited speed of 250 km/h.

The top of the range is represented by the turbocharged eight-cylinder 50i with a maximum output of 330 kW. The two-chamber twin scroll turbocharger squeezes 650 Nm of torque from the engine, acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h is no wonder.

At BMW, however, they also thought of a more economically minded clientele. This is evidenced by the option of choosing a six-cylinder diesel with the designation 40d, which has an output of 230 kW and 630 Nm of torque. Considering the size and weight of the car, you will be pleased not only with the acceleration to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, but also with the fuel consumption, which in the combined cycle should not exceed 9 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers.

Regardless of the choice of drive unit, an excellent eight-speed ZF automatic transmission is available. Rear-wheel drive is a matter of course, the four-wheeler will be able to be ordered with the 50i engine.
