Audi shows another member of the Prologue family

Fifteen years ago, Audi first showed the raised Allroad Quattro station wagon with plastic protective elements, which were not the rule at the time, but visionary. At the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show, a completely new form of Allroad, belonging to the Prologue family of concepts , will be presented.

The 5.13-metre-long station wagon comes with a similar body shape to the Prologue Avant launched in Geneva, meaning a long front bonnet and a rapidly sloping roof at the rear. In the front part of the body, two elements typical of top class Audis cannot be missing – the Singleframe mask and lights with Matrix Laser technology. From the e-tron models, the Prologue Allroad adopted LEDs in the front bumper. The taillights use full-LED technology, in addition with a cover that creates a three-dimensional effect. The elements typical of the Allroad models this time are represented by a higher ground clearance (+ 77 mm compared to the classic station wagon), aluminum roof rails and a gray extension of the lower part of the body. Similar to the Avant, the Allroad also comes with hidden door handles , which is why sensor surfaces for unlocking the doors are integrated into the lower window moldings. The electric controls also have charging socket covers and fuel filler necks. The bodywork is painted in Dehua white , while the 22-inch five-spoke wheels create a more luxurious impression.

The interior is a display study par excellence! The dashboard consists of four large screens – in front of the driver is the Virtual Cockpit instrument panel, known for example from the new TT, to the right and left of the driver is an infotainment display with an aluminum frame, and the passenger has his own screen built into the dashboard. In the center tunnel is an OLED display , which rises to an inclined position when the vehicle is started, with controls for the climate control and entertainment system. In short, even passengers sitting on two separate chairs will not come. Among them is an OLED display for adjusting the seats, air conditioning or communication with the driver, and two tablets with a slightly curved screen are integrated into the back of the front seats. When you have admired the number of screens, you will probably register the audio system with sound spoilers, the Majordomus software, which identifies the passenger according to his smartphone and presets the seat and air conditioning according to his preferences, or the Easy Slot function with inductive charging of the smartphone and its connection to the on-board system. Exclusive materials like the Prologue Avant are a matter of course, which is why there is also almost natural Unikat leather , ash wood, aluminum and Alcantara.

The plug-in hybrid system under the hood combines a twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder 4.0 TFSI with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic automatic. A total of 734 horsepower is sent to all wheels via the Quattro system . From 0 to 100 km/h, the Prologue Allroad can start in 3.5 seconds with a standard consumption of 2.4 l/100 km (56 g CO2/km). The set of lithium-ion batteries stored in the back has a capacity of 14.1 kWh and is sufficient for 54 purely electric kilometers. Accumulators can be charged, among other things, via the AWC wireless system, which the German automaker is also preparing for serial use. The chassis has a five-link axle at the front and at the back, but air suspension with adaptive damping offers maximum comfort. The 20-inch diameter brakes are made of ceramic material reinforced with carbon fiber.
