Audi presents an interesting station wagon concept

You first met the brilliant Audi Prologue concept on our website last November, when the over five-meter-long coupe was shown at the LA Auto Show. Its unmanned version arrived at the electronics fair in Las Vegas with, among other things, a new paint job and a modified powertrain. The third meeting with the concept will take place in Geneva, where a more practical version of the Avant will be shown.

Its main philosophy is to show the world a new interpretation of the Avant model, which Prologue also tries to do with a more dynamic rendering of the body, which, however, more or less corresponds to the previously presented coupe. Here we have main headlights with Matrix Laser technology, a hexagonal grille, aggressive air intakes in the front bumper, 22-inch wheels with a dynamic design, rear lights with a 3D effect and doors without unnecessarily distracting handles . Sensors in the aluminum frames of the side windows are used to open them. The only significant change is the rendering of the rear part, more reminiscent of a station wagon body (or rather a shooting brake). The Prologue Avant is 110 mm over 5 meters long , the width has grown to 1970 mm (+ 20 mm) thanks to extended fenders, and the concept is 10 mm taller (total 1400 mm). The wheelbase of 2990 mm remained.

The interior is a mixture of aluminum, ash wood and first-class leather with the distinctive name Unikat. There is enough space for four passengers , when each of them has a separate chair and five touch screens . Three including the instrument panel can be found in the front part of the cabin around the driver, two OLED screens take care of the entertainment of the passengers in the back.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain with wireless power, combining a three-liter TDI diesel, an electric motor in an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic, lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 14.1 kWh and Quattro all-wheel drive can easily be identified as the most interesting of the entire concept. The system output is 455 hp and 750 Nm , which is enough for acceleration in 5.1 seconds, a maximum speed of 250 km/h and consumption of 1.6 l/100 km. The purely electric range is 54 km. The chassis is equipped with air suspension and, in addition to all-wheel drive, it also has a swiveling rear axle in a range of five degrees. Carbon-ceramic brakes are in charge of stopping.
