Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro

Audi A1 with more than 500 horses under the hood? Why not? It will be on display at the Wörtherseetour 2011 event, where the A1 Clubsport Quattro will be presented on the Audi stand as a concept for the sharpest version of the automaker's smallest model.

What does a car have to have under the hood to achieve such tremendous performance? In this case, it is the 2.5 TFSI unit that is well known from the Audi TT RS and RS3 Sportback. In the case of these models, however, it offers an output of "only" 250 kW, while for the polished A1 it was tuned to 370 kW and 660 Nm of torque. The designers achieved this by modifying the turbocharger, intercooler and exhaust system.

A huge amount of power can get a lot of exercise with the A1. How could it not, when it weighs only 1390 kilograms. In practice, this means acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, from 0-200 km/h in 10.4 seconds and flexible acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h in just 2.4 seconds, when in fourth gear gear. The maximum speed is then electronically limited to 250 km/h, and who knows where the speedometer needle would stop without the limiter. The safe stopping of the vehicle is ensured by ceramic-carbon discs with six-piston calipers for the front axle and steel discs for the wheels of the rear axle.

Through a six-speed manual transmission, power will be sent traditionally to all four wheels. The sharp hatchback also borrowed the quattro system and the transmission itself from the TT RS model.

In order to safely control a vehicle with such performance, the exterior also had to undergo modifications. The concept received an aerodynamic body kit that widens it by 60 millimeters. The exhaust tip brought out on the left side just in front of the rear wheel again refers to the Audi A4 DTM. For perfect stability, the concept is equipped with an adaptive chassis and stands on low-profile 19" alloy wheels. Everything is tastefully wrapped in Glacier White matte paint, except for the glossy black roof, made of carbon fiber.

Inside the concept, you'll find racing seats with four-point harnesses, a leather-wrapped center console, a three-spoke racing steering wheel and plenty of carbon fiber accessories. Behind the front seats there is a space for storing a racing helmet, and instead of the rear seats there is only a spreader profile to increase the rigidity of the body.

The 30th edition of the Wörtherseetour 2011 takes place from 1 – 4 June at the Austrian Lake Wörthersee. Among other things, the new generation of the A6 model and the sharp RS3 Sportback will be on display at the Audi stand.
