Alfa Romeo is developing a new sedan and coupe called the 6C

Italian automaker Alfa Romeo is up to something big, as reports from foreign websites appear to be developing a new four-door sedan as well as a two-door coupe . According to initial information, the mentioned two models with the designation 6C should be based on the Gloria concept , created by IED students in Turin.

More precisely, the management of the brand decided that some design elements will be carried over from the aforementioned concept study, created by Alexander Imnadze and his team of students at the Turin Institute of European Design. It is no secret that the modern Alfa Romeo 6C will be based on the recently introduced Maserati Ghibli .

From the aforementioned " baby Quattroporte ", the new models will also have a platform, but with sportier handling and aggressive styling. It's also likely that the 6C will feature some tech from Maranello – namely the all-wheel drive from the Ferrari FF or the dual-clutch gearbox. Both the sedan and the coupe get a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder under the hood, which was developed by Maserati together with Ferrari and is currently also found in the Maserati Ghibli.

The elegant four-door sedan (possible successor to the 166) should be introduced in 2015 and is planned to sell 40,000 units/year. After that, a rear-wheel drive two-door coupe could also appear. Well, let's be surprised by what will actually happen, as recently there have been "flying" speculations in the automotive world about the sale of Alfa Romeo to the Volkswagen Group, or rather to the Audi brand.
