The Alfa Romeo 4C will go into production as early as May 2013

A few days ago, the Fiat concern unofficially confirmed the start of production of a new car at the Maserati factory in Modena , Italy . According to company sources, the Alfa Romeo 4C could be produced here alongside the Quattroporte and GranTurismo models .

The Alfa Romeo 4C was presented as a concept at last year's Geneva Motor Show, where it received a well-deserved standing ovation thanks to its amazing design and carbon body . Later that year, however, it lost its ultralight body in favor of aluminum.

According to available information, the two-seater sports car should be powered by a centrally located gasoline turbocharged four-cylinder with a volume of 1.8 liters and a maximum output of 147 kW. The engine will be mated to an Alfa TCT dual-clutch automatic transmission and all power will be sent to the rear wheels. Thanks to this and a weight of only 850 kilograms, the coupe accelerates from 0-100 km in 4.5 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h.

The Alfa Romeo 4C should be offered in Europe for just over 50,000 euros, with a total production volume of around 2,500 units per year. We could expect the production version already at the January auto show in Detroit , as the automaker plans to start production in May of the same year.
