Acura presents its flagship model, the RLX

Acura certainly does not have a bed of roses in the US. In addition to parent Honda , its luxury arm has to compete with the likes of Lexus and Infiniti , or German rivals . In the fight for a piece of the pie, they are now reporting with the new RLX flagship!

The design of the model is based on a concept that was presented about six months ago in New York . Little has changed since then. The front part continues to be dominated by a massive radiator grille and lights that are armed with LED diodes. The rear part of the model is slightly duller than the front part, but it does not offend and thus creates a pleasant mix of design.

The interior provides the necessary amount of comfort as expected from similar models. The combination of luxury and modernity creates a pleasant mix and can certainly create a relaxed atmosphere. The dominant feature of the interior is the 8-inch navigation display and the 7-inch touch screen of the On-Demand multimedia system located below it. As in every luxury car, luxury equipment cannot be missing here either – in addition to both systems, the basis is also three-zone air conditioning, a sunroof or ELS audio with 10 speakers .

A single engine appears under the hood – a six-cylinder 3.5 with 310 horsepower and 368 Newton meters of torque. Acura also continues to stay true to the classic six-speed automatic . Thanks to the variable valve timing, the RLX becomes the most economical model in its class. An interesting new feature is the Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) technology, which enables all wheels, including the rear ones, to be turned.

In addition to the gasoline engine, Acura will also include a hybrid model based on the RLX with Sport Hybrid SH-AWD technology. The model itself will combine a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine with three electric motors , a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and AWD all-wheel drive. This combination could produce up to 370 hp .

The Acura RLX will go on sale next spring at a price starting at $48,450 (approx. CZK 934,000).
