Alpina presents the modernized D3 model

At the beginning of the summer, BMW introduced a rejuvenated Series 3 , the main novelty of which is the inclusion of a three-cylinder petrol engine under the hood. However, in the case of the slightly modernized Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo , there is no danger of anything like that – the three-liter six-cylinder diesel remains under the hood!

The only reason why we are mentioning the diesel alternative to the factory BMW M3 again after two years are the subtle modifications to the appearance in the spirit of the already mentioned classic 3 series. The kidney stones and both bumpers have a new design, the front and rear lights use LEDs . The cabin is made of higher quality materials, while cruise control and parking assistant are included in the basic equipment.

Under the hood, there is still a three-liter six-cylinder diesel engine with a pair of turbochargers, which has a power of 350 hp and a torque of 700 Nm, combined with an eight-speed ZF automatic . The sedan can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, the maximum speed is 276 km/h. In today's world, consumption cannot be missed – the D3 Bi-Turbo "eats" only 5.3 l/100 km and emits 139 g of CO2/km into the atmosphere. The Kombi Touring will be a tenth slower and a tenth thirstier, but it will surpass the sedan in terms of practicality.

In the basic configuration, the D3 Bi-Turbo has rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive (only for the station wagon version) and a limited-slip differential can be purchased for an additional fee.
