Brabus played with the new Mercedes SL

Although it might seem that the SL sports roadster of the German premium car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is practically a flawless product, the engineers from the Brabus company evidently think otherwise, and today they presented their tuning program for this particular model.

The basis of this modification is a traditionally extensive body-kit including modified bumpers, sill extensions, side openings on the fenders or also a decent rear wing or a diffuser with four tailpipes of the sports exhaust system. In addition, proper wheels of sizes 18 to 20 inches cannot be missing. Inside, future owners will find top-quality leather upholstery, ambient lighting and a new speedometer rated up to 360 km/h.

We would briefly describe a few new plastic parts and some leather, and finally we can move to the main thing – the power unit. The base version is the SL500 with a 4.7-litre twin-turbocharged V8 boosted by the PowerXtra package (which includes a new air intake and sports exhaust system, all controlled by a new engine management unit) and delivers a maximum output of 382kW (520 hp) and 820 Nm of torque. 520 horsepower combined with tremendous torque means nothing more than acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and a maximum speed that is electronically limited to a straight three hundred.
