After thirteen years, Lincoln showed the Continental limousine concept

The story of the Lincoln Continental , i.e. a large limousine with a comfortable chassis, rear-wheel drive and a large engine under the hood, came to an end in 2002. At the end of the production of the ninth generation , the American manufacturer responded with a concept of the same name with a retro design and a twelve-cylinder engine under the hood, but it was not put into production by the parent Ford didn't let go. For a long time, the famous name was silent , and rock fans may have stopped hoping to buy a new Continental in a Lincoln showroom. But every similar story should have a happy ending, so at the upcoming New York auto show, the tenth-generation Continental concept will shine in the spotlight, which is said to be just a step away from serial production.

The appearance of the body indicates not only the future of the Continental, but also of Lincoln as such. Gone are the two wings at the front or the complicated lights, the novelty offers a large chrome radiator grille and lights with LED diodes or lasers in the distance lenses. Not only the 21-inch polished aluminum wheels stand out from the profile, but also the "disappearing" E-Latch handles . The rear part also received LED lights, but when they are not lit, they look like a chrome strip. Along practically the entire length and width of the car, there are chrome surfaces in the lower part of the bumpers and doors, complementing the Rhapsody blue metallic .

As with the original, the cabin is adapted to the maximum comfort of the passengers . The front seats are thus adjustable in thirty directions, and the passenger seat can also be turned into a lounger with a single button. Heating, ventilation and massage functions are a matter of course, along with the pair of rear seats, the front seats are also upholstered in Venetian leather . Speaking of rear passengers, they can control not only the air conditioning, but also the advanced Revel Ultima audio system, and in the massive center console they will also find pull-out tables and champagne holders. A very interesting element is the SPD SmartGlass panoramic roof , which can adjust the interior temperature using sunlight. Thanks to the blocking of up to 99% of UV radiation, for example, it cools the cabin by up to 8 degrees Celsius.

Lincoln limited the technical data only to the confirmation of the three-liter six-cylinder EcoBoost under the hood, sending power to the rear wheels. The army of safety assistants on board are represented, for example, by the parking assistant, the pre-collision system, pedestrian protection or the 360-degree camera system, the images of which are projected onto the display of the MyLincoln Touch multimedia system.
