Mercedes recalls a forgotten success

Almost everyone knows the traditional Mille Miglia endurance race , but few remember the success of the crew of John Fitch and Kurt Gessl, who in 1955 conquered the production car category with the Mercedes 300 SL and finished fifth overall. And it is the car with the starting number 417 that is reminiscent of the new edition of the SL roadster , aptly named the Mille Miglia 417 Edition .

Admittedly, in Magnetite black metallic (designo black and matte white are available for an extra charge) with red lollipops in the front and rear bumpers, red rims on the 19-inch black wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear from the AMG Performance line, respectively calipers in the same the shade suits the roadster very well. The rear spoiler is contrastingly made of matte carbon. The red and black continues in the interior, where AMG Line two-tone leather seats with Mille Miglia 417 Edition logos on the armrests are complemented by a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, two-tone armrests, door panels and carpets with the 1000 Miglia logo. The decorations are provided by matte carbon.

If you opt for the special series, you will receive it as an additional package to the SL 400 versions with a 333-horsepower six-cylinder, or the SL 500 with a 455-horsepower eight-cylinder . The sporty character is supported by the standard adaptive shock absorbers and the optional Active Body Control system. An additional 14,800 euros (approx. 409,000 crowns) is paid for the six-cylinder engine, and "only" 12,800 euros (approx. 354,000 crowns) for the eight-cylinder engine.
