Mercedes unveiled a new model with the Maybach logo

In December 2012, the Maybach carmaker produced its last model before its factory doors closed for good in 2013. However, after almost two years, the Maybach name is returning , although not as a separate brand. In conjunction with the Mercedes car manufacturer, a super-luxury version of the S-Class will be created under the name Mercedes-Maybach .

With a wheelbase of 3,365 mm (length 5,435 mm), the super-luxury S-Class easily surpasses the Bentley Mulsanne and ranks between the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Phantom. However, if you don't have a meter handy, recognizing the S-Class with the Maybach logo will not be an easy task. Visual changes were practically limited to a slightly modified radiator grille and Maybach logo. A sharp eye may also notice the 66 mm shorter rear door , which has given place to the third side window in the C-pillar.

The Stuttgart automaker paid even more attention to the interior, which really can't be compared to the above-mentioned British models. Leather upholstery or real wood and chrome decor are a matter of course, as are a pair of separate and reclining chairs in the back with a massage function and an electrically controlled footrest. A pair of small tables come out of the central tunnel, which is of course lined with real wood. On the other hand, the standard equipment includes Burmester audio with surround sound (the sound of which you will be able to enjoy very intensely, because the Mercedes-Mybach S-class is supposed to be the quietest car in the world), an IWC clock on the center console, lighting using optical fibers, a panoramic roof with the Magic function Sky Control, Robbe & Berking set for champagne consumption or perfumed accessories from the Air-Balance package. Maybach logos are ubiquitous.

The drive is handled by two units from the standard range of the Mercedes S-class. First of all, it is a six-liter twelve-cylinder in the S 600 model , which has a power of 530 horsepower and a torque of 830 Nm, which is enough to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and a maximum speed of 250 km/h The same dynamic parameters are achieved by the twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder with a volume of 4.7 liters in the S 500 version with an output of 455 hp and a torque of 700 Nm. The twelve-cylinder works with a seven-speed automatic, while the eight-cylinder got a nine-speed automatic. The rear wheels are driven in both cases, but next year the S 500 will also come as a four-wheel drive with the 4Matic designation . In terms of safety, none of the important assistants are missing, the equipment even includes airbags in the seat belts.
