Bentley has prepared a faster variant of the Mulsanne limousine

The Paris stand of the British automaker Bentley will be decorated with "the fastest ultra-luxury car in the world" . At least that's the nickname given by the automaker itself to the sporty version of the Mulsanne limousine , traditionally marked with the word Speed.

Under the hood of the 2685 kg heavy and 5575 mm long Bentley, we find an eight-cylinder twin turbo V-cylinder with a volume of 6.75 liters , which generates 537 hp at 4200 rpm and a monumental torque of 1100 Nm, available from 1750 rpm. While it's really no small thing, the Mulsanne can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 305 km/h, all with an average consumption of 14.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 342 g / km. Mulsanne owes these unreal values on paper mainly to the cylinder deactivation system , which playfully turns a V8 into a V4. The rear wheels are then driven via an eight-speed ZF automatic with paddles under the steering wheel and a special S mode that improves engine response.

The air suspension received a new special Sport mode, which stiffens it and at the same time improves the response of the steering wheel. In addition to the Sport mode , the chassis also offers Bentley and Comfort modes, which improve the comfort of the drive itself, respectively Custom, in which the driver himself sets the characteristics of the chassis and steering. In terms of appearance, the Speed is distinguished by a dark-colored radiator grille , a modified front bumper and a darker background of the lights. Unique are the 21-inch wheels , which can be combined with four new exterior shades – Spectre, Candy Red, Camel and Marlin. The interior boasts diamond stitching on the seats, new decors such as piano lacquer and modified pedals.

Changes will also be made to the classic Mulsanne , which for the 2015 model year will receive newly adjusted engine hardware and thus 13% better economy. However, the 512 horsepower and 1,020 torque will remain. The transmission is newly calibrated with smoother shifting , which improves driving comfort. On the outside, it will be possible to choose all 4 of the above-mentioned shades of the body, on the inside you will get new dashboard decors.
