Audi ditched two sports models

Audi presented a pair of interesting concepts Nanuk and Sport Quattro in Frankfurt . And as is fashionable in today's automotive world, speculations about a possible series production immediately began. Now a message has been received from Audi that rejects the production of the Sport Quattro, on the contrary, it allows the production of the Nanuk. To make sure that there are not enough sports models that we will not see, the Audi RS8 will also end up on paper.

Behind the end of the sports limousine is the simple fact that Audi would not find a sufficient number of customers for it. The reason is the need to increase the performance by 20-25% compared to the S models. However, this would put the RS8 (with 625-650 hp) into the territory where only one car will operate – the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG . And for the management of a car company with four rings, the production of such a car simply would not make (financial) sense.

The Sport Quattro also deviates from the brand's strategy. This is already quite heavy from a conceptual point of view and thus does not correspond to Audi's strategy, which wants to significantly reduce the weight of its models. Conversely, the controversial Nanuk study has a chance for production. Ferdinand Piëch, head of Audi's supervisory board, had Nanuk created because he liked Giugiaro's Parcour study from this year's Geneva. So it is obvious that he would like to see "his child" in serial production as well.
