Finally, the performance of the new M3 and M4 has been officially confirmed

Until yesterday, the Munich-based brand kept all fans of the powerful models of the M division tense , when it finally published and then confirmed at Technology Days the technical parameters for the next generation BMW M3 Sedan and the brand new M4 Coupé series.

In the models mentioned above, a new 3.0 -liter inline six-cylinder engine with double turbocharging will stand out under the hood, which will offer 430 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and a torque of over 500 Nm. The new drive unit is not only more powerful than the current one, but also has 25% lower fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions. BMW management stated that they have reduced the weight of the classic M3 to less than 1500 kg.

The new S55 engine comes with two turbochargers, and BMW engineers have added a forged crankshaft , which is not only lighter, but also stiffer, allowing the engine better acceleration and response thanks to reduced rotating masses. The head of the BMW M division, Freidrich Nitschke , hinted that a lighter version of the new M3 with around 1400 kg might arrive in the future. It would achieve this weight thanks to the simplification of the interior, seats and other cost-saving measures. If series production were then approved, we would probably see the return of the M3 CSL designation .
