The BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso V12 was presented at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este

Last week, you could discover on our website the first information and sketches of the upcoming elegant coupe, on which BMW collaborated with the Pininfarina design studio. Time is running out, and that's why this weekend's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este had its gala premiere.

The large two-door coupe is the result of a collaboration between the Munich automaker and the well-known Pininfarina studio. Looking at this unique piece, many people form the opinion that it is an "eight" BMW for the 21st century . Of course, the mentioned statement refers to the great BMW 850i and its other versions from 1989-1999.

According to some foreign media, the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso looks more like a coupe derived from the 7 Series, which could compete with, for example, the Bentley Continental GT. However, BMW representatives consider this model to be the successor of the 8 series.

A BMW source said: “With this model, we want to say that you can't just think about electric cars, but also about traditional models with real emotions. Whether we will see the return of the 8 Series is yet to be decided, but the Gran Lusso Coupé shows what it could look like if approved”. However, according to a confidential source from AutoWeek , who wished to remain anonymous, the concept will reportedly be reworked into a production version of the 8 Series luxury coupe.

Whether we will see a serial version or not, it is certain that under the hood of the Gran Lusso we will find a turbocharged 6.0 -liter unit from the 760Li model , in which the power is tuned to 535 horsepower. In the cabin, the dashboard looks similar to the 5 or 7 series, only here we find more elegant materials, color combinations and the design used by Pininfarina.
