The lightweight 458 will soon make its debut

Ferrari , based in Maranell, really doesn't want to underestimate anything, which is why it has recently been churning out one exclusive supersport after another. It started with the F12berlinetta , followed by the successor to the Enzo – the LaFerrari , and now a sharper and lighter version of the Ferrari 458 Italia is in the works .

The mentioned special " four hundred and fifty-eight" could get the suffix Scuderia, Monte Carlo or Challenge Stradale . We will only know what the name will be used for at the official premiere, which will most likely take place at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. The new version should have less weight than the standard one, stronger brakes, a stiffer chassis, stickier tires and possibly some elements from the Ferrari 458 Challenge racing special. In addition, the more aggressive 458 could also boast some things from the LaFerrari, such as a dual-clutch gearbox .

More importantly, however, the 4.5 -liter eight-cylinder should sharpen up and have a power of up to 600 horsepower. This will be possible thanks to new forged rods, a reprogrammed control unit, a modified exhaust and a shift of the upper speed limit from 9000 to 9300 rpm . New for the upcoming special 458 will be active carbon "wings" on the rear diffuser.
