The new Giulia will be based on the Gloria concept

Last week you could have learned from us that the Italian brand Alfa Romeo will bring the stylish Gloria concept to the Geneva Motor Show in March . And indeed the expected was confirmed – the successor of the 159 model, the Giulia , will be based on the aforementioned Gloria concept , and apparently we have a lot to look forward to.

The concept study, developed by students of the Institute of European Design (IED) in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo Style Centrum , will be unveiled on March 5 at the aforementioned exhibition site. Series production of the new Giulia will probably start in 2015 in Europe, Asia and the United States of America. This means that the world premiere could take place during 2014.

Given the goal of selling 300,000 cars a year by 2016 (which is 3x more than now), this model will be very important for the brand. The new Giulia will be sold as a sedan or station wagon, and will be the direct successor to the 159 , which was discontinued in 2011.

The Gloria concept has the following dimensions – length 4700 mm, width 1920 mm, height 1320 mm and wheelbase 2900 mm. The Giulia should offer similar dimensions to the named concept and will have the longest wheelbase among cars using the Fiat-Chrysler compact platform.
