BMW officially presented the i8 Spyder concept!

The German automaker BMW has officially presented the i8 Spyder plug-in hybrid roadster concept!

This is an open version of the coupe presented last year. However, the word futuristic takes on a completely different dimension in the case of the i8 Spyder ! Well, just take a look for yourself – the laser headlights , the transparent hood seamlessly connected to the windshield, even the upper wind shield has no analogues in other concepts! Add to that the upward-opening doors, a large rear diffuser, U-shaped taillights, an unconventional rear hood, and suddenly you have a car in the world that will attract the attention of absolutely everyone.

The cabin also strongly corresponds with the external shapes. Quality leather, carbon fiber and instrument panel panels finished in Piano Black paint are the basics. Interesting features are the digital instrument panel, the large screen of the iDrive system and the automatic transmission.

The drive is provided by a hybrid combination of an electric motor with a power of 96 kW and a gasoline three-cylinder fifteen-cylinder engine, which supplies an additional 164 kW. The total output of 260 kW is sent to all four wheels, with the front axle supplied by an electric motor and the rear axle spun by a petrol unit. Thanks to this, the BMW i8 Spyder concept accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5 seconds and easily attacks the electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h.

However, the BMW i8 Spyder is not only about extravagance, speed and valuable materials, but also about ecology. Thanks to the plug-in system and lithium-ion batteries, it can cover a distance of up to 30 kilometers completely without emissions. The combined consumption is just 3 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.
